Generation Z, people born between the years 1997 and 2012, faces significant amounts of stress on a daily basis. Stress is not only emotionally taxing but can lead to physical disorders like high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease in the long run.

Nadi Shodhan Pranayama is a yogic breathing practice in which the individual inhales and exhales through alternate nostrils while keeping one nostril closed at a time. Practitioners of Nadi Shodhan believe that it helps to purify the energy channels and reduce stress and anxiety.

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Delhi aimed to understand the impact of Nadi Shodhan Pranayama on health and stress management among Generation Z. The study involved 50 participants who were healthy individuals between the ages of 18 to 25 and who were not practising yoga or meditation regularly. The study group was divided into two groups where Group A practised Nadi Shodhan Pranayama for eight weeks and Group B was the control group.

The results of the study revealed that the participants who practised Nadi Shodhan Pranayama had improved stress levels, reduced anxiety, and a better ability to manage their emotions. They also reported higher levels of energy and an improved sense of wellbeing as compared to the control group. The findings suggest that Nadi Shodhan Pranayama is an effective method for managing stress and promoting positive mental health among Generation Z individuals.

The benefits of Nadi Shodhan Pranayama are not limited to stress management. Regular practice of the technique may help in keeping other health issues like diabetes, asthma, and hypertension at bay. Moreover, it can also enhance overall respiratory health and improve lung capacity.

Nadi Shodhan Pranayama is a simple and effective breathing technique that can help individuals manage stress and maintain good overall health. Its benefits are not only limited to Generation Z but can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of age or health status. Regular practice of the technique, ideally under the guidance of a qualified yoga instructor, can undoubtedly lead to a more energetic and stress-free life.
